Meet One of My Favorite Hunky Guys--Kelly Slater!
Not sure how many competitive surfing fans there are in these parts of blogland, but a while back I wrote a novel that revolved a bit around surfing and it gave me a chance to do some...um, research. Talk about guys with great looking bodies who live on the edge. Surfer boys. Such fun to watch! Check out Kelly, whose autobiography, btw, is quite inspiring.
Let's pause for a moment of silent appreciation for the greatest surf champion of all time, Mr. Kelly Slater!!

Ooo... what a hunk.
Oh wow! Major eye appeal.
You know what? There's been a lot of talk about guys who are sexy without a lot of hair on their head, or none.
The creme de le creme seems to be Yul Brenner.
Mr. Slater has that elusive quality along with beautiful eyes, lips and form.
I want him to be the next Prince of Siam. Remember, the character went shirtless during the film. In my minds eye, I see Mr. Slater doing a marvelous job!
But can he dance?
Etc, etc, etc.
*grin*
Thanks for making our eyes happy today! Mine certainly are.
(waggles brows)
How cool that you would post pics of him! He was the inspiration for naming my hero in The Perfect Dish!
What a yummy hunk of maleness.
Kristen! That's amazing! I used to subscribe to a couple of surfing magazines while I was writing that book--even tried surfing and got myself a fabulous dinner plate sized bruise on thigh. I LOVE Kelly! He's amazing to watch surf.
Loved him on Baywatch!!
He was on Baywatch?
Wow!
Deidre - I come from a surfing family. My dad was strictly longboards but gave it up due to a bum knee. My bro surfs his own sticks - actually set up a shop in his garage so he could shape his own. His claim to fame? A shark nibbled his foot while he was surfing Huntington Beach.
Another fave of mine is Laird Hamilton. That guy is nuts.
He's very handsome :)
Kristen, so funny you should mention Laird Hamilton. I have him in mind for a blog post eventually. There's a great shot of him balancing his baby on his shoulder (I think shoulder?)
Yeah, he IS nuts. I can't imagine the things he does. I so want to learn to surf--even was agent on a great women's surf book called SISTER SURFER co-authored by Mary Osborne who won MTV's SURF GIRLS. So far, though, I have too much healthy fear. The one time I took a lesson it was pre-hurricane weather and my one thought was, "I'm going to DIE doing this..."
:)

On the young man on the surfboard from an old, old lady...
